Board Meetings

Regular Meetings

All regular meetings of the United Local School District Board of Education (“Board”) are held at the High School (8143 State Rt. 9, Hanoverton, OH 44423) in the High School Library unless otherwise indicated.  Regular meetings will be held on the second Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. unless otherwise indicated.

Special Meetings

Any meeting other than a regular meeting will be a special meeting.  Special meetings will be called as needed and will be announced in accordance with Ohio law.

If a situation requires immediate official action, the Board may call an emergency meeting which will be announced in accordance with Ohio law.

Executive Session

All Board meetings are open to the public.  However, during a Board meeting the Board may call an executive session.  An executive session is a portion of a public meeting from which the public can be excluded.  Pursuant to Ohio law, an executive session can be held for the following reasons: to consider certain specific employment related matters; to conduct discussions regarding certain purchases or sales of property when public discussion would give a third party an unfair advantage; to conference with an attorney regarding disputes which are the subject of pending or imminent court action; to prepare for, conduct, or review collective bargaining negotiations; to discuss certain matters relating to security and emergency response protocols; and to discuss or consider other matters required to be kept confidential by federal or state laws and regulations. Discussion in the executive session will be limited to the specific enumerated reason for entering the executive session, as set forth in the motion to enter the executive session.  Further, the Board may not vote or make any decisions in executive session.
