Kindergarten Enrollment Information

Parents of children who will be five on or before August 1st and live in the United Local School District or are considering open enrollment, it is almost time to register.  We will begin accepting kindergarten registration on March 1, 2025. If you are planning to open enroll your child, please pick up or print off from our website an open enrollment form in addition to filling out our online registration packet.  Open enrolling families will need to register with their home school district first, and then they may apply with United Local School District beginning on April 1, 2025.

After enrolling you will not be able to schedule your child’s kindergarten screening date and time until after August 1st. Our Kindergarten Screening Date will be announced closer to the start of the school year. Check our website for further information. ALL NEW STUDENT REGISTRATIONS MUST BE DONE THROUGH FINAL FORMS ONLY.

Instructions:

1. New kindergarten parents will enroll child(ren) and submit documents by going to the United Local School District Website and select “Quick Links” in the top navigation bar. Then, select “Registration and Enrollment” and proceed to select “Directions for Registration & Enrollment”. You will need to create an account for your child. Click HERE for a step-by-step guide. 2. Create a new account with a user name and password.

3. Complete each form in the left hand column ACCURATELY.

4. Upload all required documents and click "Submit".

a. Original Birth Certificate

b. Immunization Records - Immunization Requirements lists all immunizations required for school attendance.

c. Proof of Residence (2 items)

d. Photo Identification of LEGAL Parent/Guardian (Driver’s License/Photo ID)

e. Current report card, grades, attendance record, transcripts etc. / IEP & ETR

f. Court Ordered Custody Documents (where applicable)

5. Bring Original Documents that you uploaded to United Local School District Main Office to be viewed in person. If you have trouble uploading your documents, we can do that step for you when you present the documents.

*If you do not have internet access or are unable to complete these forms from home for any reason, please contact the school and we will set up a time for you to complete them here. If you have any questions or run into any issues, please call our building secretaries at 330-223-1521 ext. #3 for grades 5-12 or ext. #4 for grades K-4. Or please call Ann Peters at 330-223-2831. They will be happy to assist you.

Important items of Note:

  • DO NOT list someone as a "Parent" or "Guardian" unless that is their legal title. If not a legal parent or guardian, they must be listed under an "Emergency Contact". **We reserve the right to correct errors in regards to these situations, and will do so if the information is not accurately portrayed**.

  • Each form must be "signed" at the bottom by typing your name in the box in order to verify completion.

  • SUBMIT each form when completed and signed. The form will change color to green once it has been submitted properly.

  • You can link more than one child to your account if there are siblings.

  • ONLINE FORMS MUST BE COMPLETED BEFORE ENROLLMENT IS COMPLETE.

  • It is also your responsibility to update Final Forms anytime you have any changes.

  • After your kindergarten child(ren) has been fully enrolled into the district, our elementary secretary will call you after August 1st of each school year to set up your child(ren)'s screening appointment time.

  • For new transportation services you will need to reach out to our transportation department at 330-223-2835 after August 1st of that school year. You will then receive a phone call prior to the first day of school with your child(ren)'s pick up and drop off times. *Please note that times can fluctuate the first couple of weeks by either 5 minutes prior to the set times and 5 minutes after the set times.

We recommend working on the following skills with your preschool student to help prepare them for school.

  1. Recognizing numbers through 10 and read numbers in the world around us

  2. Counting objects to 10

  3. Name objects with a specific attribute, for example name something blue in your house or something that is shaped like a square

  4. Practice saying the alphabet as well as recognizing the alphabet letters (upper case and lower case)

  5. Learn to say their full name and write their first name

  6. Play rhyming games

  7. Listen to a story and retell it in your own words

  8. Tie shoes, button buttons, zip zippers, snap snaps

  9. Put a puzzle together
