Spread Eagle Tavern

The Spread Eagle Tavern: Inside and Out.

The Spread Eagle Tavern and Inn is a historical and unique building with good food. Also come down to check out the haunted side of the tavern. This building is very old. It wasn’t always new like it is today, It looked old, so they restored it to what it looks like today. It took 22 months to restore and they put in many old-fashioned things like paintings, furniture, and decorations from a long time ago. It was built in 1837 and that was almost 200 years ago. The tavern's history dates back to the Canal Boom Era of the early 19th century.

Each room in the tavern is named after a well-known or famous person in history.  One particular room is named the Barbara Bush Dining Room. She was the first lady when the tavern reopened.  It is believed that Abraham Lincoln stayed here over 160 years ago so they named the room he possibly stayed in the Lincoln Suite. There are also rooms named after George Washington,  Martha Washington, and Thomas Jefferson. In addition, the tavern also has 7 dining rooms and 6 guest rooms which all have working fireplaces.

The Spread Eagle Tavern is also supposed to be HAUNTED! There is a rumor about a ghost that roams the tavern. She is an 8-year-old girl that died in a fire next door. There is supposedly another ghost named Olivina Nicholas. These ghosts supposedly have been seen around the tavern.

I had a chance to visit the tavern with my family. The food there was really good. The hostess invited me to tour the tavern, including the downstairs of the building. There were some old pictures, sculptures, old guns, and mounted animals.

Come to the Spread Eagle Tavern because it is very historical, haunted, and the food is good.
