7th graders participated in book clubs during Mrs. Conser’s ELA class during the month leading up to Christmas break. At the end of the month, clubs were able to nominate their book in up to five different categories to compete in United Local’s Winter Book Wars! After two rounds of student voting, we are happy to congratulate the five winning teams.
Second period’s 'The Girl Who Was Supposed to Die' won ‘Biggest Plot Twist.’ Third period’s 'Booked' won ‘Funniest/Most Awkward Moment.’ Seventh period’s 'Stung' won for the ‘Grossest Scene.’ Seventh period’s 'Solo' won for the ‘Worst Decision.’ 'Not if I Save You First' - also from seventh period - snagged the victory for the ‘Saddest Moment’ … by one vote! (Shout out to sixth period’s 'Legend' team for a close second in that category!)
A drawing between the five winning entries was held on Monday. Officer Bailey drew two of the winning book clubs, which allowed those team members to receive a free book from United’s book vending machine. Congratulations to 'Booked' and 'Stung' for winning the final drawing! A special thank you to the community and staff members who have brought the book vending machine to our students!
